Felllow Artfire seller and local Las Vegas Artisan Jamie Yocono of Wooditis offers these gorgeous sushi serving sets.
From the description:
I've had a few requests for larger sushi sets, so here's a lovely 19 piece Sushi Dinnerware set, perfect for your next party at home. I tend, to make sets for two or four people, but this one could actually serve eight in pinch.
Yup - eight!
There are two serving platters - the large one is 7" x 13.5" inches and will told a ton of food. The smaller one is about 5" x 7.5" - I made this extra platter for putting rice on the table, or perhaps extra condiments like ginger, wasabi or even holding the pitcher.
There are 4 rectangular (3.5" x 8") plates and 4 square (4.5") plates, each with a small soy bowl. I envisioned this set to serve four people, so that each one would have a rectangular plate and a square plate, one for fish and one for rice. But in the event that you throw a larger party, you could certainly serve up to eight people with this set.
And because I'm so into the whole sushi experience, I'm including a matching soy pitcher. Sweet.
I mix this glaze in my studio, I call it Waterfall Green and it's simply stunning on this dark clay body. There is a faint fish scale texture on all of the pieces, and the glaze breaks lovely over the texture.
Of course, the glaze microwave and dishwasher safe, and lead free. But this set is handmade, so these pieces may contain small imperfections that are inherent to handmade work. Some of the imperfections might include slight warping and/or minor glaze imperfections that in no way affect the functionality of the piece.
I'm all about improving your sushi dining experience at home, and have really concentrated on making some outstanding dinnerware sets... remember, life is too short to eat off of carryout containers!
You can enjoy your sushi on this gorgeous bench inlaid with Jamie's handmade ceramic tiles.
from the description:
This is the most popular piece I build - a filing cabinet bench. It is designed with several things in mind, first and foremost, it's a lateral filing cabinet.
Tired of fighting the mound of paperwork in your office? This bench will hold a full four feet of hanging files. Just purchase a set of hanging file rails at any office supply store, and turn this gorgeous bench into a fully functional filing system. It's four foot capacity means it holds as much as a two drawer filing cabinet, and you have to admit - it looks much better than those ugly metal boxes.
The second concept that I incorporated in this piece is that it's a storage bench, suitable in a variety of areas around your home. It looks just as nice at the foot of your bed as it does in a foyer, mudroom or hallway. These benches have been used as shoe storage cabinets, or as blanket chests for storing linens, and even toy chests.
To make this piece multifunctional, I usually make the bottom of these benches in solid aromatic Cedar. Cedar not only protects and keeps your winter clothing smelling heavenly, but it looks lovely. But... this chest is a departure from the norm! The bottom of this chest is a gorgeous Pine, and here's why. I wanted to make this chest as a possible wine storage chest, and Pine is the perfect wood for that purpose. See, wine bottles can take on odors from their surroundings, so Cedar wasn't a good option for this particular chest. Look at many wine racks and you'll see that Pine is a common material, as it imparts nothing to disturb the bottles. That's the precise reason I used Pine for this chest.
This chest is made of a gorgeous Mahogany, and the front is a slight departure from the chests I've made in the past, which have all been made of solid wood. This new design incorporates my handmade ceramic tile on the front panel. Fired with a glaze I make in my studio, these tiles have shino hues and highlights. They have a tribal "hunter and gatherer" motif/texture on them, I hope that shows up in the one detail photo I'm posting. Rounding out this design, there are wooden casters on the bottom, making it easy to move this piece around your home for cleaning, rearranging, or whatever!
