Micro Messenger

New micro messenger bag design for my newsletter giveaway winner Cindi H.

I am sure a pattern exists somewhere for a bag like this, but I drafted this one in response to my giveaway winner's request for a small messenger bag. She wanted a small messenger using some of the same fabrics I used in Mindia and Nori and Bombelia. I was out of the Bombelia fabrics, but I managed to work in the other two, plus a few more pieces. The bag has a hidden zip pocket in the flap, a pocket under the flap, a zip pocket in the body and two stacked regualr pockets ... whew! Small but MIGHTY! It closes with a gunmetal magnetic snap. The flap is decorated with some commercial beads and a focal lampwork bead from Trev over at Geosouls Arts, here in Las Vegas. The entire exterior of the bag is patchwork in a variety of earthy colors.

It is 9" wide x 7" high x 2.5" deep. It also features my first adjustable strap, courtesy of Carried Away Team Mate SCB Creations easy to follow tutorial.

So Cindi, I hope you like it. I've decided to name it Sorcha, since St. Patrick's day is coming up next week and I am mighty proud of my bright idea.Sorcha - (SIR-ka) From the Old Irish sorchae, meaning 'bright, radiant"

I made another one like it (the prototype for the pattern) which I've named Orla, continuing on the Irish theme. This one is not patchwork all over, just the flap and the strap.

Órla - (OHR-la) From the Old Irish ór, meaning 'gold' + flaith, meaning 'sovereignty, queen'.

Holly and I took two bags out shopping today for a little test run to see how they carry. Holly liked being able to cinch up the adjustable strap. Orla does not have the adjustable strap, hidden flap pocket, feet on the bottom or as many pockets. It also doesn't have a snap closure, but there is some velcro under the flap. It does have a nice key hook with a swivel snap secreted under the flap, so keys don't go wandering to the bottom of the bag. I haven't decided if I will keep this one or put it in the shop. Maybe my sister Norah will take off with it. She often steals my prototypes. I suppose it is the benefit of being my sister.

Holly really likes the size and shape of this bag and says mommy has to make her one in Duck print. I am not sur ehow that will look, but I'm game.

So if I put Orla up for sale, would you buy it or another bag in the same pattern?
