I had my blog set so only people with google accounts could comment. What a noob mistake! **blush** All fixed now. Thanks Laura for sending me off to check that.

On a blogger blog, you need to go to your dashboard under settings>>comments>> and check the radio button for anyone. This doesn't have anything to do with moderation settings, it just controls who can comment. By default I believe blogger is set to a more limiting option.
